Unpursued prototypes is a follow-up of the Haüy project. In contrast to Haüy, I wanted to experiment with modern design and production techniques to create a series of unique objects, each with it’s own individual characteristics but part of a group.
Based on a little collection of wood samples, each with it’s own thickness and dimension I created some parametric rules to calculate semi-random shapes. After selecting the best combination, CNC cutting tools milled the wood for the final product.
With not a specific function in mind soon it became clear these where some kind of prototypes of little boxes. Some small but large enough to keep a ring. Others much bigger but with only room for one letter of a beloved.
